Hello world!
If you know anything about WordPress, you know that the post entitled “Hello world” is the default when you create a new blog.
It’s actually a very welcoming title, but like most, I’ve always deleted it and created a new post as my first post.
This time, I’ve decided to keep it. It’s the landmark of something new and a reminder of the starting point of the new breath of life I’m giving to YoungPhotopreneur.com.
I started this blog in 2008 while I was majoring in Art and Photography in college. While working on my degree, I also started getting paid for photography work in the industry.
I worked with entertainment companies shooting album covers for independent artists to shooting promotional events for companies to include, but not limited to, CBS, 20th Century Fox, Disney, Microsoft & Southwest Airlines.
So I created this blog to share my experience and connect with other photographers. Within 6 months I was able to go from 0 visitors to over 50,000 new visitors a month.
I never spent any money on advertising (mainly because I didn’t have any), but the work I did went viral, simply by writing compelling content, being honest and genuinely taking the time to connect with like-minded individuals.
Over time though, I started working on other projects and getting booked for more work. During that time, life got in the way… You know how that goes.
Although the initial work I put into this blog continued to attract new visitors and I would receive random checks in the mail, I stopped putting my all into it.
…but lately, the thought of knowing I neglected my love for this blog helped me understand that I can’t go on in life completely letting it go.
It’s too important for me to continue sharing my experience and helping other photographers and entrepreneurs.
About a year ago my site got hacked and was causing major problems for my server. So I ended up taking down the entire site and just deleted all the work I did.
The only reason I wasn’t worried about making that decision, is because over the years I’ve learned how to build a blog from scratch, get it ranked high in the search engines, attract thousands of new people to it, and make it profitable in months.
So that’s what I’m doing now. Putting my time and energy back into this blog and continuing where my online career started.
It was a success before, and now that I’ve gotten a ton of experience under my belt for my businesses and my clients, I’m ready to make this time around even better.
I look forward to seeing how things turn out.
Until next time!
