Shooting for free can get old after a while, especially if you’re a good photographer and want to make a living from it.

I’m going to show you how to take your career to the next level, stand apart from the competition and make a profit!

Let Me Tell You How I Did It…

When I started college, I was studying photography and just started learning how to take a great picture. I remember working on projects where I had to use the darkroom to expose my film and create prints.

The process of turning my negative film into an enlarged print fascinated me. I was always an artist, but something in photography really spoke to me.

So I decided that I would pursue this more seriously and make a career out of being a photographer.  I would commit to learning a new skill or lesson out of every photography class I took and started to learn how cameras really work.

I thought I could become a famous photographer overnight!

As I transitioned from shooting with film to using a digital camera, I decided I was ready to start making money from my talent and become a famous photographer, world renowned!  I must have been kidding myself.

I really shot for the moon, but barely reached the sky! I jumped way ahead of myself because I didn’t have the information I didn’t know I needed.

I spent a lot of money on “investing” in my talent, but never made a profit from all of my hard work. Or if I did, it was more like chump change to barely pay for gas.

My mentors gave me advice and showed me where I was making mistakes. Professional photographers and business owners taught me a lot and pointed me in the right direction.

Having talent isn’t enough.

I realized that being talented alone wasn’t enough. I needed to know how to market myself and actually make enough money to live off of.

Once I learned something new, I would use it in my real life and see how it worked. Some things worked, and some things didn’t. So I kept what worked and threw out what didn’t.

I slowly started building my client base, gradually increasing the amount of money I would ask for and started seeing my career blossom.

I learned how to create a strong online presence so I could reach new possible customers all over the country.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with companies like Warner Brothers, FOX, Disney and Def Jam Records.

We all start as students paying dues.

I often go back to the days I was just starting out as a photography student. I simply wanted to graduate from school and hoped I would meet someone willing to give me a chance.

So many doors have been open for me after learning some key skills to help me make my talent profitable.

Dont get me wrong, I’ve also had a lot of heartache. People have told me NO ten times more than I’ve heard YES.

Many times I thought I should give up on photography and think about what career I would pursue instead.

I sincerely had doubt in my heart that my dream was merely just that… a dream. But when I really started to understand how to increase sales and create value in my talent, everything changed.

MAKE it happen for yourself!

After graduating from college, I had to stop doubting myself and really make things happen. NO MORE hoping and wishing.

The choices I’ve made and skills I’ve learned have helped me land some pretty nice gigs. One of my main clients is an entertainment company specializing in producing musicians.

They’ve hired me to shoot the album covers for all of their music artists. Their albums along with my photography, later goes on to be distributed worldwide!

I recently had the honor to shoot an actor named Alimi Ballard. He’s in the Fast and Furious’ “Fast Five” and on major television networks. Not only was he a pleasure to work with, but he has become a friend as well.

I made a goal to focus on shooting for the music, fashion and entertainemnt industries, and that goal is actually coming true! If I can set goals for my career, you can surely do the same.

Here’s one of my favorite images from Alimi’s shoot. We drove up the Hollywood Hills and shot right in front of the famous sign. It was blast!
